Fossil fuels like oil are what this country runs on. They’re needed, because they power so many things and are used in a lot of others. Recently, there has been some talk about trying to move away from these kinds of fuels and over to things that are cleaner such as solar, wind, and water power. Whether this will happen is still uncertain, but one thing is clear: there are some people who are very interested in getting away from the heavy use of fossil fuels. If you’re one of them but you don’t feel like you can do much about it, there may still be small steps you can take.
For example, you may want to buy a hybrid or electric car, but you can’t afford to right now. That doesn’t mean there isn’t anything you can do. Start saving money, look for ways to cut down on what you’re spending right now and get a refinance car loan so your payments are lower and you’re handing over less interest over time. If you do all of those things you’ll be able to save money faster and you’ll be closer to trading your car in on a hybrid or electric car to help protect the planet.
Fossil fuels are really used in almost everything. It’s hard to reduce your carbon footprint because of that, but there are plenty of small things, like recycling and reusing things, that add up over time if you let them. Start with just one small step that you’re comfortable with and that doesn’t feel like too much of a sacrifice. From that point, move on to other things. If you make small sacrifices, you won’t miss the things you gave up very much. You’ll be doing the planet a huge favor, too, which has to feel good.
