Do you drive a car every day? If you do not live in a part of the world where public transportation is a viable option, and you have a commute to make each day, you no doubt have to use a lot of gas in your life. And that gas can certainly get expensive, especially when your responsibilities increase because one of your kids add an extracurricular activity or you get a job further away from where you live. In this day and age, the amount of oil a person uses can just keep rising until it starts to get downright ridiculous. And did you know that most people’s homes are still powered by coal fired power plants? Do you ever feel like you need to get a payday advance, just to fill up your gas tank every couple of days? If this is the case, you are experiencing a very common problem that people have a little bit more of every year. If only it had a name, like “oil itis” or something. But sadly, it is just our heavy dependence on gas, and the oil from which it is produced. The sad truth of the matter is that the people of our world have grown far too dependent on burning all kinds of things, just to maintain the life styles to which we’ve grown accustomed. Coal is another unfortunate truth of our modern world. For all of the talk about clean energy, most people still derive the power that keeps their heating and AC systems on and their TVs glowing from coal power plants. They burn the coal, it turns the turbines, and the turbines connect to massive generators. These generators, in turn, keep power running through our lives at the pace that we are all hooked on having. If not for coal, life would be a lot tougher for lots of people.
